9.4.25 - Life with the Littlest Owen: Chaos, Compassion & Coffee-Fuelled Determination
Being a mum to the Littlest Owen is like living in a whirlwind — full of cuddles, snacks, and constant commentary on dinosaurs. Throw in our small (but mighty) dog, a full-time job, and my passion project — The Owen Project — and you’ve pretty much got my life in a nutshell. It’s busy, it’s bonkers, but it’s all mine.
Living with ADHD means I don’t sit still well — I thrive when I’ve got 15 tabs open in my brain and a to-do list that looks like a novel. I also live with a chronic pain condition, and honestly, staying busy is one of my best coping tools. When I’m helping others or building something that matters, it gives me a sense of purpose that pain can’t take away.
I’m a big advocate for endometriosis and other fertility-related conditions. I’m one of the lucky ones — I got my little miracle — and I believe in using my (very loud) voice to raise awareness for those still fighting their battles. I’ve also had my own struggles with weight, which is partly health-related and partly because the Littlest Owen has a habit of sharing snacks… whether I asked for them or not! But we’re working on it — one biscuit at a time.
One of my biggest pet peeves? People tearing others down for trying. We’ve already seen a bit of that with The Owen Project, which is a shame — but the positives and the incredible people we’ve connected with far outweigh the negativity. I truly believe all behaviour is a form of communication, and when people lash out, it usually comes from a place of pain. That said, I’m not here to be anyone’s punching bag.
I’m not better than anyone else — but I try every day to be the best version of myself for my family and my community. And if that annoys a few people along the way? Good. It’s not for you.
This life isn’t perfect — but it’s real, it’s full of heart, and I’m proud of it.
